About Anxiety Treatment

Anxiety attacks usually develop over time as a response to stressors that build up gradually.  Panic attacks are unexpected, sudden episodes of intense fear that can trigger physical reactions like a quickly rising heart rate, and feeling lightheaded or faint. They usually only last for a few minutes, but can last up to an hour. It’s comparable to the difference between a slow burn (anxiety) and a sudden fall (panic attack).

They are similar and both are caused by external triggers. The big difference is the length of time you experience these conditions. Anxiety is a chronic, excessive worry that may affect our normal mood or how we function on a daily basis. Stress, however, is a shorter emotional or physical reaction to a trigger like a fight with a loved one or a deadline at work. It is normal to have certain “Stressors” that can add stress and worry to your life. Sometimes certain events or demands at work occur within the same months or seasons of each year. For example, maybe every year your work sponsors a charity event and you are in charge of planning this big fundraiser. It can also be a type of depression that relates to the changes in seasons like darker, longer days in the winter.
